Haswell, located among an interlacing of unpaved roads, has a quirky claim to fame. The town has been credited with having the nation’s smallest jail. Another odd fact surrounding the town is the name itself. It’s believed that the town’s name was created to cue early travelers into the fact that the town “has a well.” Though unconfirmed, this distinction has stuck, and is now commonly accepted.
