Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum

This 1883 building was the hardware and general store and still houses the original coal stove and merchandise displays, photo gallery, children's museum and a model railroad.

Directions: 4 hours west of Denver; 3 hours west of Colorado Springs and 3 hours east of Grand Junction. From Gunnison on Hwy. 50 head north on Hwy. 135 to Crested Butte (28 mles). Follow signs to National Historic District up Elk Avenue. Museum is on the corner of Elk and Third Street on the right.
