With More than 39,000 acres of skiing, 317 lifts and more than 2,300 trials, there is no doubt Colorado is the world’s premier ski destination. Colorado’s expansive terrain allows everyone – skier, snowboarders, families, experts, intermediates and beginners – to find exactly what they want. There is a place to match every skier’s mood and budget. Skiers looking for a historic Western town can mosey through the streets of Aspen, Steamboat, Crested Butte and Breckenridge or visit the European-style villages of Beaver Creek, Vail and Telluride.
Snowfall averages 300 inches per year in Colorado. Many ski areas average well over 350 inches including Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, Monarch, Steamboat and Winter Park. When nature fails to provide the snow, we simply turn on the machines and make our own white powder. Thanks to high-tech snowmaking equipment, Colorado’s resorts are covered with plenty of snow all season long.
But skiing isn’t the only thing to do in Colorado in the winter. Mid-November through early April, Colorado resorts offer fantastic activities such as dog sledding, snowshoeing, hot air ballooning, tubing and snowcat tours.
Colorado resorts are easily accessible via Denver International Airport or through mountain airports with access to most resorts within 30 to 45 minutes after touchdown. Mountain airports also offer direct jet service from major cities across the United State including New York, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Detroit, Atlanta, St. Louis, Washington D.C. and others. In many cases, you can board a jet in the morning and ski in the afternoon.
