"Crazy," that’s what most people say when you talk about taking a dip in near-freezing water. Well, if that’s what you call it, then that’s what Colorado’s polar bear plungers are, grade-A crazies. But hey, it’s a blast, too. Mostly done for charity, those with the moxie to dip their skin in cold water at least have their heart in the right place. A number of events around the state feature polar bear plunges, and if you don’t get soaked yourself, enjoy the warmth of watching other crazy souls take the plunge. Events like March’s Frozen Dead Guy Days in Nederland and on various occasions at the Boulder Reservoir in Boulder are sure bets for this chilly event.
