About 2.5 miles above the ocean’s shores, on the Continental Divide, sits Arapahoe Basin. At 13,050 feet above sea level, Arapahoe Basin is the highest ski area in the United States. Meaning this ski area is just that much closer to the snow clouds. An hour or so drive from Denver puts you at the front of the lift line. Stay in Denver, ski the day and be back in the city before happy hour is over. The best news about this resort is its season; A Basin has a knack for being one of the first resorts to open and one of the last to close. It’s not uncommon to see the lifts open well into May.
