Olathe

Situated between Delta and Montrose on the Uncompahgre River, Olathe is known for its hardworking farmers and hometown hospitality.

If you can pick a time to visit this small, southwest town, shoot for early August. The crowd- and stomach-pleasing Olathe Sweet Corn Festival — coined the biggest little festival in the U.S. — takes place this time each year. Boiled or roasted, take your pick, but make sure you hit try the divine ears at this down-home harvest party. Live music and entertainment round out this family event. In addition, summer concerts take place all season at Community Park.

The area is also home to wineries, breweries, restaurants and local boutiques. Use Olathe as a jumping off point to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park or the Grand Mesa scenic byway as well.
