Plus, experiences for all kinds of interest at the premier Christian family guest-ranch resort — from horseback riding for all abilities to activity-packed programs for toddlers, kids and teens — support the creation of timeless memories. Here are just a few reasons to book your weeklong getaway today.
No child is left indoors.
Wind River Ranch’s daily programs are designed to get your kids out in Colorado’s beautiful mountain settings. Each morning, your kids can attend age-specific kids, tweens and teens programs facilitated by Christ-centered and fun-loving counselors, who provide settings for youngsters to be themselves and enjoy the outdoors. Possible Kids Club adventures for children ages 3–9 include daily games, attending the ranch carnival, trout fishing, scavenger hunts, acting in Old West movies and participating in a kids’ rodeo. And kids ages 10–13 in the Tweens Club are treated to team-building games, hikes, horseback rides, a climbing wall, zipline, low ropes course and more.
While the Teens Club for ages 14–21 encompasses many of the same activities, counselors work closely with teens to plan the week’s activities, which are customized to suit the preferences of each group. Guests of all ages have opportunities to learn about and ride horses, participate in Bible study, and enjoy access to ranch amenities, including basketball and volleyball courts, an outdoor pool, recreation hall, stocked fishing hole, climbing wall, zipline, lake kayaking and disc-golf course.
There are unlimited opportunities to connect with the family and create memories that last a lifetime.
Many families are faced with limited quantities of precious vacation time together before young ones reach adulthood — so make this one count. The thoughtful staff at Wind River Ranch is committed to giving you and your crew the opportunity to slow down and reconnect though a variety of daily activities.
Immerse yourself in the splendor of nearby Rocky Mountain National Park on a family hiking excursion; kick up your heels on square-dancing night; and find out what makes roasting marshmallows in the mountains so special at evening firesides, which take place in a meadow with awe-inspiring views of 14,259-foot Longs Peak. Other options for fun include events like the Ranch Olympiad, Kids Rodeo and Hootenanny — a giggle-inducing talent night with skits performed by the staff. Off-ranch excursion options include river rafting, fly-fishing and golfing (not included in the all-inclusive rate).
Babies and toddlers are welcome.
Wind River Ranch is one of the only dude and guest ranches in the country with a special nursery for babies and toddlers. In the Little Buckaroos program, little ones are given the highest level of care from attentive and properly screened staff members. The new nursery — specially designed by staff members who are also parents — is a safe and warm space for babies and toddlers to play with fun toys, do crafts with staff members, slumber in comfy cribs and watch movies from cozy bean bags. The program enables parents to appreciate all of the ranch resort’s amenities and connect with other families knowing the littlest ones are having a ball.
The mountains are our playground.
Located in the thick of some of Colorado’s most exquisite landscapes, Wind River Ranch invites guests to escape to a place where the crackle of the campfire begs you to be still, unplug and take in everything nature has to offer. Explore the pristine scenery on horseback with the help of Cowboy Nick and his team of skilled wranglers, who accommodate riders of all ages and abilities with the property’s special herd of well-trained horses.
The ranch also has rare permits to ride on certain trails within Rocky Mountain National Park, giving guests the chance to see iconic sights in the park, like glistening Lily Lake and wildflower-flanked Eugenia Mine.Guests can also go horseback riding, hiking or fishing amid peaceful, high-alpine meadows at 2,100-acre Trevarton Ranch and Elk Park Ranch — two private properties leased exclusively to Wind River Ranch in 2017.
Create meaningful relationships that last a lifetime.
Not only do family members strengthen relationships with one another, they also form long-term relationships with fellow guests and the ranch’s devoted staff members, who are known for their impeccable attention to detail. Counselors, many of whom were guests at the ranch as children, go through extensive training to be excellent role models, and many families come back year after year to take advantage of everything the ranch has to offer.
