Federal Government Shutdown Travel Updates
As of October 2025, national parks and monuments in Colorado remain open, but with limited visitor services, due to the U.S. federal government shutdown.
Park roads, trails and open-air memorials will generally remain accessible to visitors. Park facilities, including visitor centers, gated parking lots and areas that are not accessible during business hours will remain closed.
Plan Ahead
- Prepare for limited facilities and carry essential supplies like water, maps, first aid and other supplies.
- Be prepared to pack out all trash.
- Law enforcement and emergency response staff remain on duty, but with much of the park's staff furloughed, visitors should expect slower response times.
- Check the official websites and social channels of individual parks, museums, monuments and attractions for the latest information.
- For questions about reservations, connect directly with your lodging provider, tour operator or outfitter for the most up-to-date information.
Respect all closures and Do Colorado Right to help protect our natural treasures during this period of reduced staffing.
