Overview

South Park, Colorado, is known internationally for its Gold Medal trout waters. These waters support the best aquatic habitat and provide the greatest opportunity to catch large trout. Other streams in South Park are equally productive but are on private ranches. Several of these ranches are now available by reservation (only) through the South Park Fishing Program. Angling is limited to fly rods/reels and artificial flies; all fish must be returned immediately to the stream unharmed.

To fly fish on a private trout stream anglers simply need to select a property and pay the daily rod fee. Fees range from $45/person to $65/person depending on the ranch. A maximum number of anglers has been established for each property. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and all anglers must have a valid Colorado fishing license.

Thanks to the efforts of many partners, stream habitat has been restored on the properties leased for fly fishing. Lodging options are available on or near each ranch so that anglers may stay locally to fish a different property each day.
