The Ute Indians called it Yampah, meaning "big medicine" and used to visit the hot springs hundreds of years ago, after long hunting trips. It was developed and opened to the public in 1888. The town was named Glenwood Springs because of our world famous hot springs. Today we are Colorado's premier hot springs resort and have had many historic visitors over the years, such as Teddy Roosevelt and Doc Holiday. We celebrate our 125th anniversary in 2013 and have really evolved over the years. We are the world's largest hot springs pool and offer a 3 diamond lodge, award winning Spa of the Rockies, Sports Shop and Poolside Grill. Come take in the waters, soothe your muscles and relax in our therapy pool, which average 104° F. The larger pool is fun for the whole family and is kept at a comfortable 90°-93° F. Guestroom rates include unlimited access to the hot springs pool and daily full hot breakfast.
To celebrate our 125th, we will be hosting a variety of events and activities. For more information, please visit www.hotsprings125.com
