Overview

CF&I played a fundamental cultural role throughout Colorado and the west. By recruiting Italian, German, Greek, Slovenian, Mexican and African-American families (to mention a few) it encouraged the immigration of diverse ethnic groups to southern Colorado. We strive to collect, preserve, make available for research, interpret and exhibit the collections of the steel and mining industries, land and water holdings, the Bessemer neighborhood, and the working families in the steel and mining industry of Colorado and the American West.
