Durango Independent Film Festival: 3/03-3/07/2010
The Durango Independent Film Festival is a celebration of art in motion. Creative minds from around the nation gather upon this inviting southwest Colorado town to showcase their creations in the hopes of winning top honors.
In a town where famous movies are often filmed – including such favorites as “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” and “City Slickers” – it’s obvious Durango has a draw to filmmakers and movie fans. This year, the Durango Independent Film Festival (DIFF) showcases endeavors that serve to educate and entertain movie buffs. Samples of the festival’s more than 80 entries include a stop-animation version of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, “Ice Cream Man,” a story that follows a philanthropist ice cream vendor, and “Go,” a film about how children raise $1 million to help war-torn Uganda.
In addition to first-time screenings, a variety of events are also planned. Among the most anticipated is the 2010 DIFF Beer Release Party taking place on February 3, where Colorado brewer Ska Brewing Company will unveil its newest creation.
