Music in the Mountains at Copper Country (Copper Mountain): September 4-6, 2009
Free for all who attend, this year’s Copper Country, hosted by Copper Mountain and sponsors, offers big-name bands in stunning mountain surroundings. Take a break from your average weekend and head to Copper Mountain for this weekend-long summer concert series. Toe-tapping, knee-slapping and fun-loving bands such as Little Feat, Buckwheat Zydeco and America will all strut their stuff on stage.
Ah, but there’s more to this annual event than music. A week-long fine art festival, kids’ rodeo, street parties and a mechanical bull-riding event are also here to enjoy – all you have to do is show up! And if you’d like to delve deeper into making melodies, Copper Country is offering a song-writing workshop with hit lyricists Mark Selby, Tia Sillers, Clay Mills and Sonny LeMaire.

Tour de Vineyards (Grand Junction): September 19, 2009
Bike along miles of wine country with grapevines lining the roads. The annual Tour de Vineyards, in Grand Junction, is always a feast for the eyes, an indulgence for taste buds and a welcome challenge for participants. Find out where to ride and how to watch.
The vast and dramatic scenery of the Western Slope, with red-hued bluffs and rolling terrain will be on display during Grand Junction’s Tour de Vineyards. For 25 miles, bikers will pedal over paved roads and past acres of vineyards and orchards. But don’t think of it as a race, consider it a scenic ride through Colorado wine country. It doesn’t matter what place you finish, just so long as you take the time to enjoy this incredible bicycle tour.
This fun ride is held in tandem with the Colorado Mountain Wine Fest, so riders can head straight from the finish line to a festival in the park. For cyclers who want to attend both events, but would like to freshen up after a 25-mile bike ride, showers are provided at the finish line, as is a shuttle bus that travels the five blocks to the event. Participants also receive a t-shirt, featuring the artwork of Buffalo Kaplinski, a course map, welcome packet and a post-ride pasta salad brunch. The bicycle tour does not include cost of festival entry. For more information, visit Emgcolorado.com or call 303-635-2815..
