Purgatory is a place that delivers big adventures and even better memories. With scenic landscapes and outdoor activities suited to a range of ages, interests and ability levels, the resort makes it easy to experience Colorado's high country. Here you’ll encounter a welcoming, affordable destination where first-time visitors and seasoned adventurers alike can enjoy the fresh air, wide-open views and mountain lifestyle.

Trails for Every Rider

Purgatory Bike Park is one of the region's top mountain-biking destinations. Beginners can find their balance on the gentle, singletrack turns of Shangri-La, while those seeking more gravity-fed excitement can lap the signature Divinity Flow Trail — La Plata County’s only chairlift-served downhill flow trail, complete with berms, jumps and wallrides. For those who crave a classic mountain challenge, the bike park also serves as a gateway to technical lines, including the historical World Cup DH trail.

Simple & Flexible Summer Day Tickets

Whether you want to dedicate the entire afternoon to racing down the coasters or spend a relaxing hour on the water, design your day in a way that fits your group's needs. Purgatory’s straightforward Summer Activity Tickets creates a stress-free family adventure, making it easy to explore the mountain at any pace. Adult and children alike can choose between single-ride access or discounted multiactivity punch packs.

Each ticket option provides seamless access to Purgatory's favorite alpine attractions from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m , including the half-mile alpine slide and the twisting Inferno Mountain Coaster. For those who prefer a slower speed, a scenic chairlift ride offers the perfect vantage point to soak in the rugged beauty and panoramic views of the Needle Mountains. Activity tickets also unlock peaceful water excursions like paddleboarding and canoeing across Twilight Lake, as well as family-friendly gemstone mining at the village treasure-panning sluice.

A Packed Summer Events Calendar

The mountain is a vibrant stage for community and celebration throughout the warmer months. A curated summer events calendar is designed to bring people together, starting with the Total Archery Challenge in July. The energy continues later in the season with the Mountain States Cup in August followed by the Mushroom and Wine Festival in September. Or, wrap up the peak summer season with the annual Oktoberfest celebration, also in September.

Power Kids Ski & Bike for Free

In the Power Kids program, every child age 12 and under receives a free season pass with no parent purchase required. Children gain unlimited skiing and snowboarding at 10 mountains in the U.S. and Chile, plus mountain biking at four premier bike parks.

Stay Close to the Action

At the end of the day, settle in right at the base of the mountain. Purgatory offers a variety of lodging options just steps from the trails, ranging from value-priced rooms to luxurious slope-side vacation homes. Cozy condos and family-friendly suites put you close to the action while surrounding you with the peaceful beauty of the San Juans, providing a comfortable fit for every budget and crew.

Purgatory also serves as a gateway to hundreds of miles of additional high-country singletrack and hiking trails, making it easy to explore the backcountry. From sunny summer weekends to extended winter escapes, Purgatory is proof that you don’t have to follow the crowds to find world-class adventure.
