Its location near the Kansas state line affords Cheyenne Wells a fair amount of visitors. While supporting a population of less than 1,500, the town still provides visitors and those passing through with lodging and dining options. The oil industry is also active here, with a number of companies drilling for crude.
Head over to the Mountain States Telegraph and Telephone Museum to see a 1920s-era phonebooth and a pre-rotary telephone, among other old-timey items. Or pop by the Cheyenne Wells Old Jail Museum to learn all about the structure used to house local ruffians for three-quarters of a century.
