Coalmont

South of Walden in Colorado’s North Park area, and Coalmont is named after the soft coal found there.

The valley turns into a feathery emerald when summer returns each June turning it into a pastoral wonderland.

A short drive away is Grizzly Trailhead in the Lincoln National Forest. The primitive trail is open in winter for snowmobiling, too.

East of town, spot eclectic fowl breeds or massive moose at Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge.

Up north, walk into the North Platte River at the Campbell Ranch Bridge for fly-fishing of the brown trout variety.
