The Colorado Pro Photographer Showdown is a premier statewide photography event that celebrates Colorado’s people, landscapes, industries, and cultural heritage through the power of still imagery. The 2026 Showdown is on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College in Durango, creating meaningful cultural and economic activity during a traditionally quieter shoulder season for Southwest Colorado. As part of the Colorado 250/150 Commission celebration, the event will serve as a visual tribute to Colorado’s 150 years of statehood while contributing to the broader national 250 commemoration. For 2026, all participating professional photographers must be based in Colorado, reinforcing the event’s commitment to highlighting in-state talent and perspective. Five featured photographers will be selected through a blind jury process to ensure artistic excellence and fairness. In addition to the $10,000 "Best In Show" award, the 2026 program will include $1,000 cash prizes for "Best Colorado Photo" and "Best Colorado Portfolio." While photographers may include images from beyond Colorado to reflect the full scope of their careers, these dedicated Colorado categories ensure a strong focus on the people and places that define our state. The 2026 Showdown will also expand its Youth Photography Showcase, inviting middle and high school students from multiple counties in Southwest Colorado to participate. By elevating professional excellence while investing in the next generation of visual storytellers, the Colorado Pro Photographer Showdown aligns directly with the spirit of Colorado 250/150, preserving our shared story, strengthening civic pride, and celebrating the creativity that shapes Colorado’s future.
