Mike the Headless Chicken Festival, May 29 - 30, 2026: For over 25 years running, every May thousands of folks “flock” to Fruita for a one-of-a-kind festival that celebrates its famous headless chicken mascot who lived 18 months without a head! This year’s gathering will feature live music, a car show, 5k race, food and merchandise vendors, games, the traditional Peep and Wing eating contest, and so much more. While there, attendees can take advantage of all the amazing outdoor adventures and breathtaking camping spots that have put the small town on the map.
