Aspen Historical Society

Aspen's past comes to life at four historic sites operated by Aspen Historical Society: the Wheeler/Stallard Museum, a Victorian house museum and rotating exhibit space; the Holden Marolt Mining & Ranching Museum, a trail-side museum housed in an original building on the site of the largest industrial complex in Pitkin County history; and Independence and Ashcroft ghost towns, remnants of the area's mining boom nestled among alpine meadows at the headwaters of the Roaring Fork and Castle Creek valleys. Guided tours throughout the area, exhibits at the museums, educational programs for all ages, community events, and site hours vary seasonally.
