Hugo

Situated on Colorado's eastern plains, Hugo’s small-town charm will make you want to sit a spell under the shady trees of the town park.

Roll through Hugo while tracing the wheels of Ulysses S. Grant’s stagecoach, who visited before becoming president and stop at the Hugo Union Pacific Roundhouse. The railroad played a huge part in the creation of Hugo and it still serves as a rail town today.

See the stories behind Hugo’s history at the Hedlund House Museum or the site of the Hugo Civilian Conservation Corps Camp. Walk along Fourth Street for some of the best antiquing in the area at Main Street Mama’s Antiques and Uniques, Yesterday’s Memories and The Korner. Splash in the historical pool — built in the 1930s by the Works Progress Administration, the pool is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Or cheer on your favorite riders at the free annual Lincoln County Fair and Rodeo.

Make sure to visit in July for the annual Colorado Prairie Music Festival.
