Mancos BurroFest 2026 Burro Birthday Bash

Throughout art history, the legendary bond between artists and their models has endured. In the beautiful Mancos Valley, this affection for burros transcends mere admiration, it stands as an integral part of the region's rich and storied history. Hosted by the Mancos Creative District in Downtown Mancos, the festival centers around burros and their unique qualities as companions, packers, and all-around spirited animals. Burros arrive in costume and navigate a uniquely designed obstacle course, while local artists conduct demonstrations of live animal painting and sculpting. Burros and their owners are also available for live interaction, demonstrations, and conversations with the public. BurroFest 2026 will celebrate the 150th birthday of the State of Colorado with a playful yet meaningful "Burro Birthday Bash" that brings history, education, art, and community together. This year's burro obstacle course will feature challenges that creatively represent different chapters of Colorado history, and artists and other community partners will display work and information that honors our state's diverse history.
