Show your support for the National Medal of Honor Museum

While we all know the reasons that Colorado is a great place, we wanted to share a few facts and numbers to assist you in writing a letter:

  • Colorado has a long military history, from the 10th Mountain Division in Leadville to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. The National Medal of Honor Museum would be located near Civic Center Park in downtown Denver, providing a military “trail” that would span the state.

  • Colorado is a welcoming state, where Mile High Hospitality isn’t just an expression. Our tourism office offers complimentary Colorado Concierge training to all front-line employees, ensuring a welcoming environment for everyone. The museum and its visitors would have a warm welcome from the entire state.

  • Colorado is also a collaborative state. Businesses cite the synergies and value of Coloradans working together. We understand that a rising tide raises all boats and that working together makes life in Colorado better for everyone.

  • The central location of the National Medal of Honor Museum offers a unique setting that maximizes visitor attendance. Located near Civic Center Park and adjacent to the History Colorado Center, Denver Art Museum and the Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art, the National Medal of Honor Museum would be a perfect fit to our cultural landscape.

  • Colorado welcomed 85.2 million visitors in 2018, a number that has grown year over year. Our robust tourism industry would help to ensure that the National Medal of Honor Museum would be well attended and receive the attention it so richly deserves.

The CTO wants to make the most out of a potential partnership with the National Medal of Honor Museum. To express the potential of a Denver-based National Medal of Honor Museum to serve as the hub of a larger, heroism-themed tourism experience in Colorado, the CTO has engaged a consultant to propose an initiative we’ve dubbed the “Pathways of Heroes,” an integrated, patriotic experience for travelers. This travel offering would encompass a collection of inspirational stories and destinations to create a richer, cultural experience that could serve as an even stronger draw for culture-minded travelers.

“Pathways of Heroes” would focus on leveraging Patriot Tourism to build attendance for the museum by positioning it as an integral part of a meaningful experience. Travelers in this niche have a strong sense of patriotism and crave experiences that connect with national pride, and within two to three hours of a Denver-based National Medal of Honor Museum, travelers could find a wealth of such experiences. In the Pikes Peak Wonders region, for example, travelers can find significant connections to the military and the Olympic Games, all of which instill a strong sense of patriotism and pride.
