Your hosts, Paul and Sharon Zimmerman of Silverton, bring you a memorable dining experience in one of our town's most historic locations.&nbsp; Built in 1880 by Sherwin and Houghton as a general mercantile store, this building was the six-year-old mining town&rsquo;s first masonry commercial structure.&nbsp; The Giacomelli family turned it into the Iron Mountain Saloon in the 1890s, and then into an ice cream parlor with adjacent liquor store after 1917.&nbsp; The family sold the building in 1970.&nbsp; In June 1971, the building, which had been vacant for 19 years, opened as the Pickle Barrel Restaurant, as it remains today.
