Ute Mountain Tribal Park: A Unique Destination

Unlike at the nearby World Heritage Site of Mesa Verde National Park, you may only visit the Ute Mountain Tribal Park — in the Four Corners area of Colorado — with a Ute guide. In this 125,000-acre tract of Ute tribal lands, you’ll find pottery shards and tools, Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings, and petroglyphs and pictographs depicting ancient life. What you won’t find: running water fountains, paved trails or many visitors.
