With habitats ranging from short-grass prairie lands to alpine tundra, Colorado is home to an array of majestic wildlife.  More than 960 species of animals inhabit the state, including over 400 species of birds.  This wildlife diversity makes Colorado one of the best places for year-round wildlife and bird watching. Each Colorado State Park offers a chance to view wildlife. On the plains, visitors may see pronghorns, badgers, foxes, weasels, jackrabbits, snakes, coyotes and marmots. In the mountain regions bighorn sheep, black bear, elk, mountain lion and bobcat roam the wilderness. Moose are regularly seen in the North Park region of the state, which includes State Forest State Park.
