Routt County Fairgrounds is 37 acres located approximately two blocks south of Highway 40 and downtown Hayden on Poplar Street. There are 9 full-hook up (water, sewer, electric 20/30/50 amp) sites with concrete pads and an asphalt parking lot, as well as 14 primitive electric-only (20amp) sites.
The first mile of trail follows an old logging road as it winds through a large meadow. This area is very beautiful, June through August, due to the abundance of wildflowers.
Stay the night at the Chapman Reservoir Campground, where some of the sites offer a beautiful view of the reservoir and the Little Flat Tops.
California Park has one of the highest breeding populations of sandhill crane in the state, and thus is also one of the best places to see that species outside of migration.
Hayden is fortunate and unique to have so many original buildings still standing. This tour will take you from the train depot through the shady residential areas and into the business section of town.
