To experience Colorado’s cosmic side, this property is sure to bring out your inner Carl Sagan. Opened in spring 2025, Kosmos has added to the few accommodation options near the Great Sand Dunes. But this isn’t just a place to sleep: Kosmos touts “astro-tourism,” taking advantage of its location in a Bortle Class 2 Dark Sky site — the second-darkest skies on the planet — to offer an unforgettable stay beyond a typical glamping experience.
Kosmos currently features two villa types, each designed to make you feel a seamless connection to the stars and nature around you. The Stargazing villas are 1,200 square feet of stylish comfort, perfect for up to four guests. The two-story Galaxy villas have two bedrooms and enough space for up to eight people. Both come with heated floors for cozy vibes, a private high-tech telescope, a full kitchen and a massive dome-style living area that frames mountain and sky views like you’re inside your own IMAX theater. You’ll also get dune views from the sleeping areas — ideal for early-morning “I can’t believe this is real” moments.
While the full resort is still under development, each villa already offers plenty of privacy and comfort. Breakfast and lunch are currently included, with all-inclusive packages set to begin in 2026. A full wellness center and spa arrives in 2026, and by 2027 you’ll be able to nerd out in the Stargazing and Learning Center.
What makes it special?
In short: luxury + stargazing = cosmic bliss. Kosmos combines high-end design with an immersive stargazing experience that feels both futuristic and deeply in tune with the landscape. The villas are modern, sleek and engineered for comfort, but the star of the show (pun very much intended) is the night sky. It’s a rare place where you can sip hot cocoa on a heated floor while finding constellations through your private telescope.
