Colorado Passport Program – Frequently Asked Questions

How the Bandwango‑powered Colorado Passports work

A signature initiative of the America 250 - Colorado 150 Commission, the Passport Program is a free, mobile‑exclusive, statewide digital Passport that curates attractions, retailers, and restaurants for participants to uncover Colorado’s hidden gems, vibrant towns, and rich heritage. Many locations provide deals or discounts that can be redeemed during a visit. View the full list of available Passports at Colorado.com/passport.

No, there’s nothing to download. Once participants sign up, the pass is delivered via text or email and opens in their mobile browser. They can save it to their phone’s home screen for easy access. Instructions for adding the pass to a mobile home screen are available at Colorado.com/passport

  1. Arrive at a participating location.
  2. Open the pass and tap Check‑in.
  3. Allow location services when prompted so GPS can confirm you’re on site.
  4. Once verified, the check-in button will turn gray to show it was successful.

If a deal is available, a voucher appears for redemption and will be automatically timestamped. Step‑by‑step screen instructions are also available within the pass.

Allow it. The pass uses your location only to confirm you’re at or near a participating site. No action is needed from on-site staff for a standard check-in.

Where a business has offered a discount, you’ll see a voucher under that listing. Select it and show the on‑screen ticket to redeem. Vouchers are timestamped at redemption.

Every check-in earns the participant an entry toward prizes and promotions tied to each individual passport. Grand-prize entries grow with more check‑ins. Prize structures are outlined in program materials and announcements.

No. The Commission’s signature initiatives run through the end of 2026, and the Passport Program includes several themed passports—such as Summer, Winter Wonderland, Arts & Culture, and Mountain Towns. New themes are introduced and rotated on a published schedule throughout the program. See the themes list under Section 2 below.

For questions or concerns relating to the Passport Program, please refer to the supporting documentation or email [email protected].

Winners for individual Passport prizes will be selected and notified after the applicable Passport period expires, in accordance with the official Terms and Conditions. The grand prize winner will be drawn after the program concludes at the end of 2026 and announced once eligibility requirements are confirmed. All potential winners will be contacted using the information provided when they signed up for the Digital Passport Program.

How businesses can participate in the Passport Program

The America 250 – Colorado 150 Commission and the Colorado Tourism Office launched a free, statewide Digital Passport Program in honor of the dual anniversaries. There is no cost for businesses to participate. Selected partners receive co‑branded digital and/or print promotional materials and statewide exposure.

To be considered, businesses must):

It varies by Passport theme; examples include museums, cultural attractions, entertainment venues, galleries, historic sites, performing arts, restaurants, cafés, distilleries, resorts/lodging, scenic byways, and more. The 2026 Passport Themes & Definitions can be found on the Interest Form.

Discounts are optional but encouraged to drive visitation (e.g., 10% off, free gift with purchase). You’ll specify your offer and any restrictions in the interest form.

  1. Fill out the Colorado Passport Program Business Interest Form here.
  2. Whitelist [email protected] so you don’t miss onboarding emails.
  3. If selected, Bandwango will contact you to set up and provide redemption instructions.

Important: Some applicants have experienced issues submitting the form.

  • If you receive an error message when submitting, it will include a link to an alternate Google form. Please complete that form as instructed.
  • If you do not receive a confirmation email after submitting the form (or the Google form), your submission did not go through. In that case, please contact us directly at [email protected] for assistance.

This ensures every submission is captured and prevents missed opportunities due to technical issues.

You may select up to three Passports you’re interested in. Examples include: Winter Wonderland, Do Colorado Right, Eat & Drink Local, Colorado Wildlife, Water Adventures, Live Music, Family Fun, Summer, 250-150 Celebration, Scenic Rides, Arts & Culture, Western Heritage, Mountain Towns, Fall. (See the Business Interest Form for 2026 pass dates, supporting material like scoring criteria and application deadlines; applications close at 5:00 PM MST.)

Applications are vetted for eligibility and then reviewed on merit, available spots, and Commission approval (see the Selection Process, in the supporting documents at the bottom of the Business Interest Form). Scoring considerations include:

  • Promotion commitment on your channels of the program and commemoration
  • Visuals (ability to provide photos)
  • Incentive offers (level/strength of discount)
  • Ties to history (connection to Colorado stories)

Geographic representation, customer volume, and price‑point variety are also considered. (See “Internal Scoring Example,” page 3.)

Bandwango provides merchant onboarding and step‑by‑step redemption instructions, supports passholders, and tracks pass analytics—freeing you to focus on the visitor experience. Learn more about Bandwango at bandwango.com

Participants show the Passport on their phone. If they’re only checking in, no staff action is required. If they’re redeeming a discount, staff can view and confirm the on‑screen voucher (timestamped when redeemed).

Each coupon or offer is limited to one redemption per individual Passport user within the platform. Once a guest checks in and redeems the offer, it is marked as used and cannot be redeemed again by that user.

Offer fulfillment is managed by the participating business; however, redemption tracking and availability within the Passport platform are restricted to a single use per user.

Passports have a certain lifetime. You can see the Passport expiration dates in the supporting documents at the bottom of the Business Interest Form. Some Passports will be valid through December 31, 2026.
