Near Allenspark, Colorado, the log-cabin buildings of Meeker Park Lodge welcome guests with stunning views of the surrounding peaks and forest.

The Meeker Park Lodge

A tiny town tucked beneath soaring peaks, Allenspark is a gateway to some of Colorado’s most iconically beautiful areas, like Rocky Mountain National Park. Located just a few miles away, along the Peak to Peak scenic byway, The Meeker Park Lodge’s spacious cabins, rustic vibe and ranch-style activities will welcome you.

Every inch of The Meeker Park Lodge radiates Western charm, from the main lodge’s knotty, hand-hewn beams and vintage lighting (it looks like gas lamps!) to the apartment-sized log cabins with furniture crafted from wagon wheels.

Unwind together on the porch of your private digs and listen for warbling birds and bugling elk. Play board games in front of your cabin's floor-to-ceiling fireplace — or make hearty pre-hiking meals of sizzling sausages and pancakes in the kitchen.

Definitely be prepared to disconnect, too. Wi-Fi and cell service are limited to the lounge area. If you need it, there is a landline. However, you’ll probably be too busy having fun on the trail or reconnecting with loved ones to notice your lack of screens.

What makes it special?

It’s the stunning natural beauty, of course. Around every corner and through every window are incredible vistas. You'll see peaceful meadows, snow-capped peaks, rolling foothills and valleys of towering pines. At night, stunning displays of twinkling stars fill the vast indigo cosmos.

The most Colorado thing about this place

We’re going with how close The Meeker Park Lodge is to all the trekking, biking and birding you’ll love at Rocky Mountain National Park. The closest entrance — Wild Basin Entrance Station — is less than 2 miles away! It’s perfect for avid hikers looking to shoulder their backpacks before the sun peeks over the rugged ridge. Or saddle up for an unforgettable trail ride on one of the lodge’s trusty steeds.

Quirkiest thing to expect

Nothing shouts Wild West lifestyle quite like a good ol’ fashioned hoedown. During the summer season, you can learn how to swing your partner ‘round, promenade and do-si-do during the lodge’s Square Dance Nights hosted twice a month.

Most unexpected amenity

Cabin guests can get all the supplies they need for the week at the on-site grocery store. Grab essentials like fresh apples and oranges, coffee and firewood, plus sweet-toothy snacks, like caramel popcorn and gooey Rice Krispies Treats. Or snag fun souvenirs at their country store, like cowboy hats, fringy leather purses and Western duds made in beautiful Southwestern patterns.

Room with the best view

The best view — of majestic Mount Meeker — is spied from the upper lodge porch. Lean back in a wooden rocker to marvel at how this snow-streaked giant dwarfs even the tallest trees.

Our favorite traveler review

“We stayed in one of their cabins for two nights, very reasonably priced. The charming little cabins were perfect for our family of five and dog. It was so peaceful, and I have never seen as many stars. Our kids went on pony rides and are begging to do one of their guided rides through the park on our next trip.” — Cassi N., Google

Take advantage of the nearby Rocky Mountain National Park and Roosevelt National Forest for exciting excursions across dramatic landscapes. Horseback ride through the forest during prime leaf-peeping season for shimmering canopies of golden leaves. In winter, go on a ranger-led snowshoe walk through the national park’s thick conifer forests — or explore with an outfitter from nearby Estes Park. Meanwhile, hikers looking for a challenge can check the craggy Longs Peak off their list of Colorado fourteeners.
