You’ll immediately feel welcome at this charmer of an A-frame cabin painted mossy green with white trim and lined with twinkling, warm porch lights. Follow the little path through a clearing and take a seat on rustic wood patio — or soak yourself in the cedar hot tub’s toasty water (it’s just steps away!). Inside, you’ll be engulfed in retro decor mixed in with clean, white walls reflecting the sun’s glowing rays. Pour out a hot cup of local Joe in the kitchen or enjoy a relaxing meal at the table by the stone fireplace. And that’s just the first floor — upstairs holds even more magic. Sink into the soft queen-size bed and peek through the arched window in the master bedroom to gaze at vast stretches of Colorado’s rolling hills. Find a similarly breathtaking view just through the adjacent bedroom, where additional guests or kiddos can stay.

The most Colorado thing about this place

It’s obviously the cedar hot tub. Only a few steps away from the front door, this bad boy is beautiful and functional, with walls of light-brown cedar and bench seating. Nothing screams “Colorado” like taking a dip in bubbling, hot water amidst the pine trees.

Most unexpected amenity

Although this cozy den is located near other houses, the space between you and neighbors — barring squirrels, birds or deer — is large enough for you to appreciate maximum privacy for a chill getaway. Pro tip: Make sure to lock your car doors and dispose of any trash in receptacles, though — bears are also one of your possible neighbors here, and respecting their home will benefit both them and you.

Things to see & do nearby

Take a scenic drive through Guanella Pass or check out Lost Creek Wilderness, a vast landscape of piled red rocks, sparse trees, flatlands and plains, and of course, rolling creek water. Two of Colorado’s fourteeners, Mount Bierstadt and Mount Evans, are about an hour away. If hiking both peaks — nearly 12 miles together — isn’t your jam, simply marveling at them from the ground will give you a sense of Colorado majesty.

Treehouse Adventure Park, just east down Hwy. 285, is any adrenaline fanatic’s obstacle-course dream; after a harnessed rope walk, take a 10-minute drive to the Bear Mountain Disc Golf Course to test our your Frisbee arm.

Mosey into small-but-mighty downtown Bailey and sip on craft beer at Craft Mountain Brewing Company, or swirl a glass of decadent local wine and munch on a crispy flatbread pizza loaded with cheese and hearty tomato sauce at Aspen Peak Cellars.
