Cheyenne Mountain Resort near Colorado Springs, Colorado, spreads out across a rolling landscape peppered with mature trees.

Cheyenne Mountain Resort

City meets nature at Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, where majestic mountain views provide the backdrop for all manner of leisurely pursuits — golfing, tennis, sunbathing, you-name-it — all available on-property.

With mountain lodge vibes (and views to match), plus a swanky side of country-club-style amenities, you’ll feel like high-altitude royalty in no time. Tee off on a championship golf course, perfect your tennis or pickleball serve, or just lounge poolside.

The mountain vistas extend to the dining room when you fill up on rustic Colorado cuisine at Elevations Lounge, a 2024 OpenTable Diners’ Choice award-winner serving up hearty steaks, burgers and barbecue. At night, satisfy your sweet tooth at the resort’s gourmet build-your-own s’mores bar by the terrace firepit.

And when you’ve had your fill for the day, retreat to one of the comfy suites, where terrycloth robes, lemongrass-sage bath products and ultra-plush bedding create the ultimate sanctuary.

What makes it special?

The sheer number of amenities. Yes, there’s a Pete Dye-designed golf course. And a private lake with boat access. And five pools (from adults-only to kiddie and more), indoor and outdoor tennis courts, pickleball courts, beach volleyball and basketball. It would be easy to spend your entire vacation without ever leaving the grounds, and we wouldn’t blame you if you did.

The most Colorado thing about this place

It’s an athletic vacationer’s dream come true. Aside from all the sports-related amenities (see above), the fitness center offers cardio equipment and a weight room, plus a schedule of 60-plus fitness classes every month, from hard-core workouts like Pilates and HIIT (high-intensity interval training) to mellower options like water aerobics and yoga.

Top sensory encounter you’ll experience

A massage at the on-site Alluvia Spa & Wellness Retreat. After exploring the great outdoors, release muscle tension during an aromatherapy massage paired with your choice of add-ons (we’re talking dry-brush exfoliation, hot stones and reflexology). Then, mosey over to the relaxation lounge, the secluded patio with a fireplace, steam room or hot tub to keep the chill vibes going.

Our favorite traveler review

“This property is beautiful. The mountain views are breathtaking. The rooms are very nice, and the staff is warm, welcoming and very helpful. The spa is lovely and, if you're a golfer, this course is a must-play! There are many amenities to choose from — from the outdoor pool to the large gym to tennis, pickleball, etc. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back again! The location is close to so many sights to see, such as Garden of the Gods. Highly recommend!!” —  Jennifer M., Tripadvisor

Things to see & do nearby

As Colorado’s second-largest city, Colorado Springs offers plenty of cosmopolitan attractions, but it’s perhaps even richer in natural splendor.

Take in the otherworldly landscape at Garden of the Gods, a National Natural Landmark with accessible nature trails amid blazing-red rock formations of jagged sheets and spires.

Pikes Peak, a fourteener known as “America’s Mountain,” offers breathtaking views from its 19-mile scenic drive to the top or from the thrilling Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway passenger train. At Cheyenne Mountain State Park, hike or bike along the many nature trails, or make your way to Broadmoor Seven Falls, dubbed “The Grandest Mile of Scenery in Colorado” for its series of seven waterfalls.

In nearby Manitou Springs, trek 2,750 stairs to the top of Manitou Incline, a thigh-burning feat of endurance that rewards you with sky-high valley vistas (and bragging rights), or venture underground to marvel at stalactite-studded caverns during a 45-minute tour of Cave of the Winds.
