While summer is a glorious time to be in Steamboat, it’s winter that has made the ‘boat famous. Because Steamboat is home to one of the best ski mountains in the country. It’s six peaks and 170 trails big with a little something for everyone, including one of the best kids programs anywhere. And to top it all off, it’s covered in, what has been described as, the best skiing snow in the world. It’s so light and dry, it’s earned the name Champagne Powder®

But it’s not just the quality of the skiing and riding that makes Steamboat special. It’s the friendly people and the genuine Colorado mountain town, that despite growing up into a first-class resort, has retained its western charm and hospitality.

Speaking of first-class resorts, while Steamboat has been shaped by its rich past, we now look forward to shaping the future. We're reinventing our entire base area and making significant expansions on our mountain, so we can transform the Steamboat experience. We are stampeding Full Steam Ahead into the future.

While the mountain is the center of attention, there are all kinds of events, festivities and winter activities to help you create an unforgettable winter vacation. From the family fun of Winter Carnival where horses pull skiers down main street, to a whole season of concerts highlighted by the multi-day music festival, Winter Wondergrass, there’s always something happening.

In town you’ll find a multitude of dining options, from brewpubs to fine dining, as the food scene in Steamboat continues to grow. And you’ll need that nourishment for all the activities that Steamboat offers up. Besides the skiing and boarding, there’s the adrenaline pumping mountain coaster, snowmobiling, snow biking, horseback riding, sleigh rides, tubing and dog sledding.

After all those activities, you can soak away your sore muscles in one of the natural hot springs in Steamboat. Downtown there’s the Old Town Hot Springs and tucked away up the mountain is not-to-be-missed Strawberry Hot Springs.
