Play at the Lakes

Enjoy large glacial lakes like Turquoise Lake and Twin Lakes. You can fish, boat canoe, kayak, SUP or simply sit in the sun and watch the waves roll in.

Zipline

Soar high above the Arkansas River valley with views of Colorado’s highest peaks. It’s the only place in the world you can zipline across a train.

Bike

Go biking on the family-friendly Mineral Belt Trail, a paved 11.6-mile loop around Leadville with original mining equipment, interpretive signs and scenic views. Roll along dirt trails built by local mountain bikers, including new trails at Turquoise Lake. You can loop the lake on a road bike or, for the ultimate challenge, head up Independence Pass or Fremont Pass.

Hike

Discover miles of panoramic hiking trails for all ability levels. Choose mellow walks around lakes, adventurous climbs to 14,000 feet (we call them fourteeners) and everything in between.

Camp

Spend the night in a tent, a hut or a yurt: Take a look at this sweet camping guide for more information. Be sure to always check current fire restrictions before you head to the woods.

Ride Motocross

Come experience the best “brown pow” around, including a loamy groomed track at the Leadville Motocross Park.

Fish

Catch a big one on the Arkansas River's designated Gold Medal Trout Waters, or drop a line in Turquoise Lake or Twin Lakes. You can even horseback ride to fish at a remote alpine lake.

Golf

Did you know your golf ball flies farther at altitude? Tee up at the Mt. Massive Golf Course or a good game and breathtaking views.

Horseback Ride

Take a horseback ride through a bounty of high-elevation wildflowers with views of the state’s two highest peaks. Trips range from just one hour to multi-day rides with options to camp, hunt and fish.

Off-Road

Rent an ATV or bring your own rig and navigate mild-to-wild 4WD roads. Snow melts on Mosquito Pass road in early summer, making for a challenging adventure.

Skateboard

Discover an exceptional skatepark nestled at the top of the Rockies, with rails, stairs, ledges and more for skaters of all ages and abilities.
