Florence's walkable and historical 20-block downtown restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques, as well as a remarkable collection of antique stores — making it the state's antique capital. The Bell Tower Cultural Center hosts concerts and theater performances, art exhibitions, classes and art-related events.

Outdoor activities include rafting or fishing along the Arkansas River, hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing and mountain biking on rugged dirt roads. Four-wheel driving is popular on Independence Trail, Shelf Road, Phantom Canyon Road and Skyline Drive between Florence and Colorado Springs.
